ACAQ in the media

By ACAQ
ACAQ has been active in the media in recent months. These conversations are important in helping protect both people and access to the places we love to explore. They are also an opportunity to educate the broader community about rockclimbing, what we do and the importance of the special places where we climb to us.
Following the tragic accidents earlier this year in the Glass House Mountains, on 17 March ACAQ spoke with ABC Radio about safety, education, and continued access to National Parks for hikers, scramblers and rock climbers. {link audio]
That was followed by an interview as part of story on Sunshine Coast Radio and online regarding fatalities, safety and signage (and distinction between rock climbers and others) This also involved QFES comments re different visitor categories and quantity or rescues.
ACAQ was interviewed at Owl Pillar, at Glasshouse Mountains National Park 29 May 26 live on ABC Sunshine Coast Radio. The questions covered in the 7 minute interview included the significance of GHM to Rockclimbing, who installs and maintains safety bolts and fixed anchors, consultation with traditional owners, track upgrades and the future of rockclimbing. This was part of a feature of Mt Ngungun for the program with QPWS, Fire rescue, traditional owners, and members of the public also interviewed.
