ACAQ does a lot of our work  behind the scenes. We are regularly meeting with QPWS, Rangers and other land managers as well as politicians and government agencies. We make submissions, and deal with access issues and enquiries from across Queensland and interstate.  We are also across relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Nature Conservation Act and regulations (for National Parks and Conservation Parks), various local government Local Laws,  the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act, and the Forestry Act (for State Forests).

Some of our recent correspondence include a Right to Information (Freedom of Information) request to Brisbane City Council regarding bouldering,  letters to QPWS regarding the development of the Mt Barney Management Plan (which includes Mt Marron), and some technical correspondence regarding the limits powers of Ipswich City Council in respect of White Rock and Flinders Peak, as they are Conservation Parks where QPWS has delegated most management power to the Council as Trustee.  If you are  really keen you can read that one - see the link below.

Both of these QPWS letters have potential impact on the potential bolting maintenance policy and possible permit system.  While this is progressing, progress is slow, even by access timeframes, we should be in a position to provide a more detailed update on the state of play and future steps at our September AGM.
