Falcon Nesting Season for South East Queensland

Falcons will be nesting on many of our crags from any time now until early December. They will almost certainly be at Tibrogargan and Ninderry, and a number of other crags too . Please give these awesome birds the space they need to raise their young. The general rule is that if you are in line-of-sight of their nest they are going to be upset. You can be close, but as long as you are not in line-of-sight, they typically ignore you.

If you get swooped, contact us at policy.qld@climb.org.au so that we can identify the nest site and advise which routes, or parts of routes, should be closed. They don't always nest in the same location, so rather than close the same routes every year, we wait till they have chosen a nest site.

Sometime around mid-November to early December, keep a look out for three or more birds in the air. This means they have successfully raised their young, and climbing is good to go.
