By Queensland National Parks
Rangers and rock climbers have spent a a boulder-ful day together on the Sunshine Coast, joining efforts for a working-bee to prevent erosion and encourage revegetation at the base of a popular cliff area for climbers.
Rangers and Australian Climbing Association Qld (ACAQ) volunteers came together under the QPWS Friends of Parks program to learn about, and undertake, repair work to belay areas for climbers at Mount Ngungun in Glass House Mountains National Park. Mount Ngungun is a very popular climbing spot that provides climbers with a great introduction to outdoor climbing.
Ranger in Charge James provided instruction on undertaking work in a national park, covering the basics of site design and stonework to protect exposed tree roots, prevent erosion and provide a stable base for belaying.
Ranger James and his team would like to thank the volunteers for bringing along enthusiasm and skills on the day and donating their time to help look after the park.
