The ACAQ recently wrote to Sunshine Coast Council in response to the "Mt Ninderry Environmental Reserve Draft Landscape Plan - Rock Climbing" Consultation process. National Park Regulation review - changes due to ACAQ submissions 07th July 2024
QPWS has written to ACAQ today regarding concerns raised by ACAQ and the climbing community with its proposed amendments to the regulations relating to management of National Parks in Qld..

Council approached ACAQ in December 23 and advised they had an engineering report as part of the bollard replacement project, that indicated that the climber installed U-bolts could not be certified and their strength was unknown (to Council). There were also concerns about the integrity of the wall and the use of drain holes for anchors by climbers. Council had legal advice which gave them concerns about liability particularly if the public thought that Council had installed the U-Bolts. Kangaroo Point Top Roping Anchors – Update 03rd July 2024

Safety Bolting - QPWS Policy on Rockclimbing - Policy on maintenance. 16th May 2024
ACAQ recently wrote to QPWS addressing concerns about their position on safety bolting. QPWS current position puts climbers safety at real risk and for this reason requires an urgent solution. The purpose of the letter was to highlight the need for QPWS to prioritise the development of a Policy on maintenance including broader consultation with the climbing community including the ACAQ..
Beerwah rainfall closures 14th May 2024
With all the wet weather in recent months, climbers are being impacted by the QPWS policy to close Mt Beerwah for at least 7 days post significant local rainfall. ACAQ recently wrote to QPWS arguing that where such closures occur.....
