From: David Reeve On Behalf Of president@climb.org.au Sent: Friday, 17 October 2014 12:35 PM To: xxxxxx Cc: secretary@climb.org.au; treasurer@climb.org.au Subject: ACAQ KP North Proposal Hi xxxxxx, When we spoke at the beginning of September you indicated that you believed there was a geotechnical issue that had to be addressed before KP North could be opened for climbing. You further indicated that Council geo-tech staff would be available to consider the issue in a few weeks. I am writing to enquire what progress has been made. As I explained in the course our telephone conversation, I have a responsibility to the ACAQ membership; a responsibility which extends to all the climbing clubs, and indirectly to the thousands of people that make up the climbing community. In 2010 we were delighted to announce to the community that Council had made the decision to spend $100,000 on the stabilisation of the KPN cliffs for climbing. Given this background, I’m sure you can see that I need to seek quite specific reasons for the current holdup. In particular, it would be helpful if you could highlight in what way the 2010 geotechnical report and the ensuing stabilisation works were deficient, given that, in meetings with Council representatives, we were assured things were ‘good to go’. I’m sure you’ll understand that I have an obligation to our membership to keep them informed on progress in this issue, and therefore advise that you should treat this as an open letter to be published on our website. The geotechnical report we are referencing is available on our website here – http://www.qldclimb.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/CDG1100563PR001ActFULL-REPORT.pdf regards David Reeve President Australian Climbing Association (Qld) Inc
